"What fishing and fighting have in common is that you must steady your hands and watch your back."

'Focus on the enemy in front, but watch your back.' 'You must steady the two hands holding your weapon and swing it with intention.' A prepared Resistance soldier knows these well, but everyone was a novice once. But I had realized this long before I joined the Resistance. The story I am going to tell you now is from back when I was a young man with no job. Just like you are now. It was when I visited Snowburn's Lake, a famous spot among fishermen. It was said that the legendary fish 'Kuang' lived there. Actually, 'Kuang' is just a nickname. It's a large-mouthed rockfish, but it's extremely large for its kind and has a pattern on its body that looks like a black bear's paw. Moreover, it had mischievous character, and often enjoyed playing tricks on the fishermen instead before quickly escaping.

I was feeling so nervous on the way to the lake. The whole time I was there, I felt as if 'Kuang' is going to take the bait at any moment, and give me the memory of a lifetime. But in reality, there wasn't a single pull from early morning until the afternoon, and I just wasted my hours sitting under the hot sun. Isn't there a saying that the person who dreams the most useless dreams is a fisherman? Anyway, I stayed there until I ran out of bait, but I still held onto my hope and kept trying, changing my spot from time to time and paying attention to the water. It must've been at sunset. I saw something rising up from the water, and I felt like I saw the paw shape. I began concentrating and focused on the movement in the water. Soon I was sure that the erratic movement must be that of 'Kuang'!

The water suddenly swirled, and an enormous golden fish covered with black bear paw patterns jumped out. Then I cast my fishing rod at it. I used all my strength to make a powerful swing, but it felt as if it got stuck in something. But that didn't stop me, and I continued through with my swing. But what do you know? An Arkeum soldier, dressed completely in black, flew towards the water with my fishing hook stuck in him! As he was trying to get out of the water, 'Kuang' opened up its huge mouth and swallowed him whole. I didn't even think about the Arkeum soldier, and started maneuvering my rod to get 'Kuang'. Only after it got dark and my whole body was covered in sweat was I able to drag 'Kuang' out of the water. At that moment...

"Have you seen an Arkeum soldier running this way?" Somebody spoke to me from behind. And guess who that was? When I turned around, Captain DaVinci and Clay Cartair were standing there! So I took out the Arkeum soldier from the mouth of 'Kuang' and gave him to them. I will never forget their expressions when they saw that! Hahaha! And I don't need to tell you what happened next, right? - Talandre Allied Resistance Forces Training Instructor 'Evant Cooker' -
