Welcome to our Fishing Guide for Throne & Liberty. 

In this guide, we will explain Fishing, what you need to do to get started, and how to catch fish. We'll also explain the rewards you can get from Fishing and how to get a better Fishing Rod.

Fishing is an optional lifestyle activity players can perform in Throne & Liberty. It allows you to catch fish in any deep body of water. Caught fish can later be used in Cooking recipes. 

Sometimes, you will catch a sack containing random loot. Usually, the sacks contain Sollant (gold), but they have a small chance of containing other rarer items. 

As you level up your Fishing skill, it becomes possible to catch rarer fish. Rarer fish are harder to catch, typically putting up more resistance when you try to reel them in. 

Before you can start Fishing in Throne & Liberty, you need to get a Fishing Rod and some Fishing Bait. 

There are two easy ways to get the basic Fishing Road in Throne & Liberty. 

We recommend using the first method because it doesn't cost you anything and you can do it in just over an hour. But it's up to you. 

Once you have your Fishing Rod, you just need some Fishing Bait and then you are good to go!

You can buy a box of 50 Fishing Bait from Contract Coin Merchants for 30 Contract Coins. You are limited to buying one box per day. 

Once you have your Fishing Rod and Bait, open your Character Screen (press P on PC) and ensure your Fishing Rod is equipped. Then, equip the Fishing Bait. 

You can now proceed to any body of deep water (seas, lakes, rivers, etc) to get started with fishing. 

When you arrive at the area you want to fish, click the fishing rod on your Hotbar to get it out. A small blue highlighted area appears in front of your character, showing where your character will cast the fishing line. If it is red, the spot you are aiming at is invalid (usually because the water is too shallow). 

Once you've found a good spot, press F to cast out your fishing line. You will quickly see a fish swimming near your line. After a few seconds, the fish will bite. Quickly press and hold the prompted button to hook the fish. Pressing it too early or late means you'll miss the hook. It's still possible to catch the fish if you miss the hook, but it will be harder. 

You will now see two bars on the bottom of your screen. The orange bar represents the fish's stamina, while the green bar is your character's stamina. 

The fish will attempt to swim away from you, either left or right. To reduce the fish's stamina, you need to pull in the opposite direction. So, if the fish is swimming to the left, pull to the right, and vice versa. By default, press A to pull left and D to pull right. 

Sometimes, the fish will keep swimming in the same direction for a long time, making it easier to catch. Other times, it wriggles around a lot, which makes it harder. Rarer fish (unlocked at higher Fishing Levels) tend to have more Stamina. 

Once the fish's stamina is fully depleted, you will catch it and add it to your inventory. If you take too long to catch the fish, it will break free, and you won't get anything. Failed catches still consume bait! 

This system is quite simple, but you will probably get it wrong the first couple of times until you get the hang of it. 

The usual reward from fishing is to catch a fish, which can be used in Cooking, another Lifestyle skill in Throne & Liberty. 

Sometimes, you will instead catch Sacks, which contain an item. Initially, you will only catch Small Sacks, but later on, you can catch larger Sacks with better rewards.

If Fishing is to your liking (or you are simply a completionist), you might want to upgrade your Fishing Rod. The following Fishing Rods are currently available:

Visit Melissa, the Senior Sundries Crafter, in Stonegard Castle. Here, you can preview the upgraded Fishing Rods and craft them if you have the required materials. 

Getting a better Fishing Rod will make it easier to catch fish, and it is especially important when you have a high Fishing Level and are trying to catch rarer fish.
