Cooking Guide for Throne & Liberty Andrew 3 months ago Beginner General Share on Reddit Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Welcome to our Cooking Guide for Throne & Liberty. Cooking is one of three Lifestyle activities currently available in TL, along with Fishing and Amitoi Expeditions. The new Cooking system should not be confused with the food crafting that can be performed by visiting Sundries Crafter vendors. While both systems create consumable food, the process is different and the available food items are different. To learn more about the original food system (which is currently still in the game), have a look at our TL Food Guide. For more guides about a variety of topics in TL, please check our Throne & Liberty Guides Database. What Is Cooking in Throne & Liberty? Cooking is a new Lifestyle activity added to Throne & Liberty in July 2024. It adds a range of new cooking recipes players can craft using a Cooking Oven. Cooking does not replace the original food crafting system, which was done by visiting a Sundries Crafter Vendor - both systems coexist in the game but are independent of one another and offer different recipes. The new Cooking system has a much wider range of food items available, but for some players, the old foods may still be better. Your character has a Cooking Skill that starts at level 1. Cooking food will gradually improve your cooking skill, unlocking new recipes and increasing the chance of better results when you cook. Find your Cooking Skill in the Character Info screen How to Cook in Throne & Liberty To get started with Cooking, you need to visit a Cooking Oven. You can find them in most major settlements throughout the world. Visit a Cooking Oven to start Cooking From here, you can browse all of the recipes and see which ingredients are required for each one. You can also view the recipes by opening the main menu (F10 on PC) and choosing the Cooking Recipes tab. This is view-only, though; to cook anything, you must be at a Cooking Oven. When viewing a recipe, the required ingredients are shown in the middle of the screen. You can click on an ingredient to lock the tooltip, then view the acquisition info to find out where to get the ingredient. Many basic ingredients can simply be purchased from a Sundries Merchant, but other rarer ingredients must be farmed or looted from various sources. At the bottom right of the page, you can view the possible outcomes for the recipe. Each recipe has different quality versions. For example, the Vegetable Stir-Fry Recipe has a 50% base chance of being a Quality Vegetable Stir-Fry, causing its effects to last for longer. Cooking in Throne & Liberty Upgrading your Cooking Skill will improve the chance of better cooking outcomes. Another way to impact the chance of better quality food items is ingredient substitution. Most recipes have an ingredient that can be substituted with a similar ingredient. Sticking with the example of Vegetable Stir-Fry, the default ingredient of Quarba can be replaced with either Celery or Herba. Replacing Quarba with Celery has no effect, because both ingredients are Quality rarity. But replacing it with Herba will improve the chance of a higher-tier food item because Herba is a Rare ingredient. Some recipes allow you to select a substitute of lower rarity than the default ingredient, and doing this will instead reduce the chance of a rarer food item. Once you've decided on your recipe and collected the items, press the Cook button to create the meal. A short cutscene will play, and a results screen will show, indicating which food item you created. You can now find the created item in your inventory.
