How to Get on the Flying Whale in Throne & Liberty - Gigantrite Guide

In this quick guide, we will explain how you can ride Gigantrite, the giant whale often seen flying around the world in Throne & Liberty. We'll also mention how you can find out when Gigantrite is on the move, and the rewards you can get for joining him on his journey.

The flying whale in Throne & Liberty is called Gigantrite. If you've played the game for a few hours, you've probably already seen it cruising around the skies, and wondered what the deal is with this huge creature. 

Gigantrite - believed to be the last of its kind - flies every three hours. Flying on Gigantrite is mostly just a fun experience without much incentive in terms of items, however you can unlock one reward in the process. More on that below. 

To get on the Flying Whale in Throne and Liberty, you first need to find out when his next flight will be. To do this, open the in-game Map and go to the Event Calendar. Alternatively, you can check our Event Calendar - just remember to select your server so you get the right info. 

Find a time that's good for you, and ensure that you are on top of the tallest tower at Starlight Observatory Ruins (use your grappling hook to reach the top) by that time. 

Once there, wait for Gigantrite to appear. He will slowly fly past the tower. Wait until he's close enough, then leap from the tower and use your Glide Morph to reach Gigantrite and land on his back. 

You're now free to run around on the back of Gigantrite - it's a fairly big area and you can get some really good views of the landscape. Be careful not to fall down, though. 

You cannot control where Gigantrite goes in Throne & Liberty. He's happy to bring you along, but he goes where he wants. 

Technically he is on a preset path, but anyways there is no known way of changing his direction. 

If the view isn't enough of an incentive, there is a reward you can earn on your first time on Gigantrite. 

This is part of a wider Exploration Codex entry called Little Friend in the Sky. 

Before going to Gigantrite, find the Codex entry in your Exploration Codex and track it so that you can find the first two objectives (you need to locate a couple of letters). 

Once this is done, board Gigantrite and search for the Amitoi on his back - he can be found on a rock near the edge. You have plenty of time to look around. Find the Amitoi, then finish the rest of your voyage if you want to. 

Next, go to Tailor Noan in Kastleton Inn, and then talk to Yeddy. 

Finishing this quest unlocks the Snow White Cutie Yeddy Amitoi.
