In this guide, we will explain what Heavy Attacks are, how the Heavy Attack Chance stat works, and if it is worth putting on your character's equipment. For more guides about a variety of topics in TL, please check our Throne & Liberty Guides Database. What Are Heavy Attacks in Throne & Liberty? In Throne & Liberty, a Heavy Attack doubles the damage output of the attack. Unlike in many other RPG games, there is no way to manually activate a Heavy Attack in TL, rather, there is a small chance for each attack to be considered a Heavy Attack. This chance can be increased with your equipment. Heavy Attacks works in a very similar way to Critical Hits, however, they are not the same thing. It is possible to have a Heavy Attack and a Critical Hit on the same attack. This is rare, but will result in a very large damage output when it occurs. What is Heavy Attack Chance in Throne & Liberty? Heavy Attack Chance is an offensive stat on your character in Throne & Liberty. The base value is 120, but what does that actually mean? For every 10 points of Heavy Attack Chance, there is a 1% chance for each attack to be consdered a Heavy Attack. This means that at base, your Heavy Attack Chance is about 12%. There is a Heavy Attack Resistance stat, which is used to subtract from the attacker's Heavy Attack Chance. However, there aren't many ways to get this, which makes Heavy Attacks very strong, arguably moreso than Critical Hits for PvP. Like with many other combat stats in Throne & Liberty, the Heavy Attack Chance is divided between Melee, Ranged and Magic version. It is also subject to diminishing returns, where each point is worth a tiny bit less than the previous point. However, there aren't many ways of increasing your Heavy Attack Chance, so in practice, the diminishing returns aren't much of a factor with Heavy Attack Chance. Heavy Attack Chance stat in Throne & Liberty Should I Use Heavy Attack Chance on My Build? As mentioned above, Heavy Attack Chance will double the damage output of any attack that it applies to, and it can happen at the same time as a Critical Hit. This has the potential to greatly multiply your Base Damage. Heavy Attack Chance is a viable stat to use for both PvE and PvP, especially if you are using a weapon like the Greatsword, that has a higher-than-average base damage on its Active Skills. You should use Heavy Attack chance in combination with Hit chance and Critical Hit chance on your weapons to maximise your DPS potential. If you're playing a more supportive build, like a tank or a healer, this is not important and you can focus on other stats. To see examples of how this is applied, you can see Builds made by other players on our Throne & Liberty Builds Page. You can also create and save your own Builds in our TL Build Editor.
