Throne and Liberty Behind the Nix - The Remnants of the Nix


Hello Adventurers, I'm CM Izai.

While I'm all for peaceful adventures, I'm also a fan of the occasional hand-to-hand combat with other Adventurers!

I'm sure many of you Adventurers are just like me, enjoying the thrill of competition and getting a kick out of testing your own limits.
So today, for all you competitive Adventurers out there, we've got an interview with the development team about the new PvP map, Remnants of Nix!

Without further ado, let's take a look at the fierce battles that will be taking place on the snowy fields of Nyx!


CM Izai: We've heard that there's a special PvP area that's unique to the Nix estate, can you tell us a little bit about it?
Lead Systems Designer: The new PvP content coming with this update is called "Nix's Remnant".

It can be accessed via the Battlegrounds button on the main menu, or through a rift in the Aetherion,
Here, you'll be able to earn special reward items that will take you to a higher level than you would in the normal Nexus arena.

However, there is one thing to keep in mind as you proceed.

Naxx's Remnant is a PvP zone, with the exception of the airbase, which is a safe zone.
Also, if you die in combat, you will drop some of the specific types of items you acquired in Naxx's Remnant,
These drops can be picked up by other players, so you should always remain vigilant.

Additionally, to further immerse adventurers in the content of Naxx's Remnant, the former battleground Nebula Island will be restricted.


CM: The idea of dropping loot upon death sounds like it will keep players on their toes, but what were the team's goals when first planning Nix's Remnant?
World Content Design Team: As you mentioned, the goal was to create a dramatic sense of tension as you try to escape from danger with a high-value item.
To achieve this, we designed Nix's Remnant to be free-to-enter and play whenever you want, with no scheduled entry or wait times for party matching.
Channels will be fluidly adjusted based on the number of players joining at the same time, so you should be able to enjoy the content in a comfortable environment.

For those adventurers who feel a little overwhelmed by PvP, we've also included a variety of tools to help you turn the tide of battle or get out of harm's way quickly.
Don't be afraid to fail, and keep trying.

CM Izai: It's great to know that the challenge is worth the risk, but also that there are tools in place to ease the burden on adventurers!
So, what are some of the special reward items that can be obtained at the end of this gruelling challenge?

Base Design Team: In Nix's Remnant, you'll find powerful PvP-specific gear, as well as new farming items that will give your character a new impetus for growth.
We want to make sure that you're rewarded for the risks you take, so we hope you enjoy the challenge.


CM Izai: There's a clear advantage to farming gear to grow, so what's the biggest difference between Remnants of Naxx compared to traditional PvP content?

World Content Design Team: The biggest differences are the size of the battlefield and the purposefulness of the content.
Whereas traditional PvP is about large groups of people battling for power in guilds, Remnant of Naxx is about small, party- or solo-orientated battles.

Lead Systems Designer: Since you can't overwhelm your opponents with large numbers, tactics to minimise losses in engagements are very important, especially with the weight of death penalties.
Not only do you lose certain item drops when you die, but it takes a long time to respawn at an airbase and return to the battlefield, which creates a critical gap in party strength.

As a result, close backup and survival strategies between party members are crucial to ensure that no one is left behind in the middle of an engagement.
Unlike traditional PvP, which is all about killing and winning, this is strictly about 'pick and choose'.

Do you circle the safe outskirts of the area and settle for the usual rewards and safe escape,
or whether to take the risk and engage in conflict with other parties for higher-tier items, is what makes the content inherently fun.

CM: It sounds like Remnants of Nix will be more than just a battle of strength, but a fierce battle of numbers, depending on your strategy and choices!
So what aspects of play does the team hope adventurers will find here?

World Content Design Team: Strategically utilise the field tools placed on the battlefield to earn rewards,
We want to see a dynamic picture of players strategically using the tools of the field to earn rewards, and using their individual strengths to win close encounters before escaping.

To achieve this, we'll be analysing your behaviour in detail to determine escape routes and and unexpected events scattered throughout the map.
We're very excited about how these tactical devices we've designed will add a lot of variety and fun variables to your playthrough.


CM Izai: Thank you for the detailed introduction to the new content. Finally, do you have any practical 'survival tips' from the team for adventurers who will be diving into Nix's Remnant?

World Content Design Team: Once you've entered Nix's Remnant, we encourage you to check the world map from time to time to see your escape plan in real-time.
Of course, in the real world, there will be moments when other players will intervene and disrupt your plan,
If you stay alert to your surroundings and make the best possible choices during those moments of crisis, you'll be rewarded with a valuable prize in your bag at the end of the day.
We're rooting for you to survive and claim your loot.
