To fish quickly and efficiently in Throne & Liberty, make use of the tips below. 

When reeling in a fish, you have some control over where your fishing rod points, and you can pull the rod either to the right or the left. 

You can watch carefully to see which direction the fish is swimming in and pull the rod in the other direction. Sometimes, it's a bit tricky to see which direction the fish is swimming in. If you're struggling to see, you can also check the fish's stamina gauge - if it is not depleting, you are pulling in the wrong direction. Beware that fish will sometimes change direction multiple times in quick succession. 

Use up most of your Stamina, then briefly stop pulling to let your Stamina recharge. 

There are four different Fish types in Throne & Liberty, corresponding to the size of each available Fish species:

With some experience, you can visibly identify which fish size you are going to catch as it approaches the line. 

Once you've learned the fish sizes mentioned above, you can then find out which group the fish or item you are trying to catch belongs to, and cancel the reeling before you hook it. 

To cancel, press the cast button again before you hook the fish. This will not consume any bait and allows you to "reroll" for a different type of fish. 

You can catch Small and Big Sacks while fishing, which gives non-fish rewards such as Sollant (gold), Trait Unlockstones, and Precious Marinds. 

You can only catch Sacks when you are using Paste Bait, which is purchased from Contract Coin Merchants, or from the Shop with Ornate Coins. After you cast out, Small Sacks will appear as a small fish, and Big Sacks will appear as a medium fish. If you aim to catch Sacks to farm their contents, you can maximise the amount you catch using this information. 

Something potentially annoying about Fishing in Throne & Liberty is the long animation your character will do after catching a fish. 

You can cancel this animation immediately after catching your fish by double-pressing the Fishing Rod equip button (default Ctrl + F on PC). This will help you to speed up the rate at which you can catch fish. 

For best results while Fishing in Throne & Liberty, you'll want to fish in the best locations. Ordinarily, you should fish in any Level 50 location. Note that the game distinguishes between Saltwater (sea) fishing, and Freshwater (inland) fishing, and some fish species can only be caught in one of these. 

Fishing off Saurodoma Island is good for saltwater, while the pond at Purelight Hill is good for freshwater fish.
